Shrinkhala Khatiwada, Miss Nepal World 2018, is an Architect who graduated from the prestigious Institute of Engineering (IOE), Pulchowk Campus. She was born and brought up in Hetauda, Makawanpur, where she was raised mostly by her mother, from whom she learned the importance of humanity and helping others.
She used to tag along with her mother, who was the president of NGO association in Makawanpur then, to various ashrams, old age homes and orphanages where she heard the stories of civil war victims, abused women and people below the poverty line. Ever since, she developed a strong sense of purpose that someday she has to pay back to the society.
In her frequent visits to her hometown, she always makes sure to visit Manav Sewa Ashram, a human service home catering to the homeless, orphans and mostly mental health patients. On every birthdays, anniversaries, or other important yearly events, the Khatiwada family offers meals and charity to Manav Sewa Ashram and other similar organizations in Makawanpur. She believes that now; with the title of Miss Nepal World she can use her platform to better serve her community and country at large.

Shrinkhala has volunteered for various post-earthquake reconstruction works. She was a part of the “Free drawing campaign” organized by the UNDP, where she, along with her schoolmates, drafted free municipal drawings for 225 households, in a matter of three days at the disaster affected district of Jaraayotaar, Melamchi. For her college project, her group envisioned a plan for reconstruction of an entire village in Sindhupalchowk often termed as the integrated settlements. For her final level project, her group presented the existing building drawings along with the future vision for reconstruction of Makhan Galli. They also presented the drawings for seven temples at the Basantapur Durbar Square, one of the seven UNESCO world heritage sites in Kathmandu. She has worked as an architect at Lumanti Support Group for shelter where they drafted drawings and supervised post-earthquake reconstruction works at some remote areas of Lalitpur district.

She has achieved various titles and prestigious awards. She was the topper at her college in three semesters, including the final thesis year, which is considered the most important year in architecture school. She has won the Asian paints design competition, architecture student award 2016. She was the runner up of the Kaleidoscope all Nepal architecture student award 2017. She also won the Kaleidoscope Heroes of the future award 2018 for being a thesis topper of IOE Pulchowk campus. She won the Miss Nepal World 2018 title, the most prestigious title in beauty pageants in Nepal.
One home foundation was established as her long term goal to give back to the world. She has always dreamt of being an “architect of the people”. She believes that in the world of high rise and skyscrapers, we need architects who are equally willing to serve the marginalized population. In the future, she wants to be known as an architect who provided a long term solution to homelessness around the world. She strongly believes that home is the biggest emotional attachment that an individual has and that a “home” should be designed with the same level of compassion and expertise.
